Congress and BJP on Wednesday cornered the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for not tabling 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the Assembly. The Congress accused AAP of “trying to conceal corruption” while the BJP alleged that the Delhi government “is violating constitutional systems to hide the truth”.

In response, AAP said, “The Congress appears to function as the BJP’s auxiliary, merely echoing allegations crafted in the BJP headquarters against AAP.” In a statement, the ruling party in Delhi said the Congress had “turned a blind eye” to CAG reports “exposing rampant corruption” in BJP-ruled States. “The Congress and the BJP should officially declare that they are contesting the election in an alliance against AAP,” it added.

Addressing a press conference in the Capital, Congress leader Ajay Maken quoted a purported CAG report on the health sector in Delhi, alleging that the AAP government committed a scam of ₹382 crore in the healthcare sector.

He added that AAP used to level allegations of graft against the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government, which was in power in the Capital till 2013, on the basis of CAG reports and is now itself shying away from sharing reports by the public finance watchdog due to the “financial irregularities” pointed out against its government in Delhi.

The BJP also weighed in on the issue, with its Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva saying, “We will win the Delhi election and, on the first working day of the Assembly, make the CAG reports public and hold the AAP government accountable for looting the public of Delhi.”
