The Government Railway Police (GRP), Perambur on Tuesday arrested 10 Pachaiyappa’s College students, including a 17-year-old boy, for allegedly pelting stones at an EMU train when it reached the Korattur Railway Station on Monday. The attack was a retaliation for a clash that broke out between two gangs at Vyasarpadi Jeeva Railway Station on Friday.

The pelting incident took place as the train was moving to Arakkonam from Chennai Central, reaching the Korattur Railway Station on Monday afternoon. As the train halted at the station, some of the Pachaiyappa’s students who were present there started pelting stones at the compartments in which they spotted Presidency College students.

During the attack, the passengers in the compartment hid themselves behind the seats. Nobody was injured in the attack, the police said. Based on a complaint, the police started an inquiry and arrested the 10 students on Monday. While the nine of them were sent for judicial custody, the minor boy was sent to an observation home.
