Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has asked the Collectors to open Control Rooms and take measures to prevent loss of life and property, amid the heavy rain forecast.
Ms. Anitha reviewed the rainfall and flood situation with the district Collectors on Friday. She asked the officers to ensure that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services and the police officials remained preapred to take up rescue and rehabilitation operations as and when required.
“Fishermen should not venture into the sea. People should not try to cross overflowing canals and rivulets. They should also avoid standing under trees and hoardings to protect them from lightning,” the Home Minister said.
The officers were told to put up warning boards at vulnerable places and contact the Control Rooms in case of emergency, Ms. Anitha added.
