A cycle rally by Coast Guard personnel concluded at the Coast Guard Station Vizhinjam on Sunday after covering 1,860 km along India’s western coast line.

Twenty cyclists began their journey from Daman on February 2 to promote maritime safety, security and national pride, a defence spokesperson said. The rally was undertaken as part of the month-long celebrations of the 49th Raising Day of the Coast Guard.

The cycle rally, themed ‘Surakshit Tat,’ covered the coastal states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.

Aditya Varma of the erstwhile Travancore ruling family, senior Coast Guard officials including DIG N. Ravi, District Commander (Kerala and Mahe), Commandant G. Sreekumar, Station Commander of the Coast Guard Vizhinjam Station, and representatives from the Army, Air Force, National Cadet Corps, Central Industrial Security Force, and the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Kovalam, were present.
