A SpiceJet flight from Jaipur suffered a tyre damage and made an emergency landing at Chennai airport on Sunday (March 30, 2025) morning, airport officials said. All passengers are safe.

The flight departed from Jaipur around 2 a.m. “After take-off from Jaipur during climb, ATC (Air Traffic Control) informed about a piece of tyre found on runway. Flight continued to destination as all operations and parameters were observed to be normal by the flight crew. Chennai ATC was informed and a precautionary landing carried out. Aircraft landed safely, normal braking used and parked,” the airline said in a statement.

Subsequently on landing around 5.45 a.m., an inspection was carried out. Airport officials said, wheel number 2 was damaged and tyre pieces were coming out.

The airline said, the aircraft main wheel tyre had a ‘main wheel tyre tread loss’ and there was no other damage to the aircraft.  “During post-flight walk around, one layer of ply (tread loss) was found from no.2 main wheel tyre,” it added.
