The Congress cadres staged demonstration here on Wednesday, protesting the Enforcement Directorate’s filing of charge-sheet in the National Herald Case against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress cadres staged demonstration in front of the Head Post Office, Palayamkottai. The protest was led by Tirunelveli district president of the party, K. Sankarapandian.

The protestors said the BJP-led Central Government was adopting vindictive strategies to smother the Congress after the ruling party had failed in all fronts, especially in employment creation and attracting hefty investments. Since the poor economical condition had led to job loss instead of creating jobs as promised by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Government was diverting the people’s attention through “cheap tactics” like fabrication of fake cases.

Similar protests were organised in Thoothukudi and Nagercoil also.
