Considering its overall performance, the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), Mysuru, has bagged an ‘A’ grade in the rankings announced by the Ministry of Power, after a comprehensive evaluation of the country’s ESCOMs.
The CESC’s ranking, when compared to last year’s assessment, has improved, with the corporation’s position going up to an ‘A’ grade from a ‘B’ grade, taking up several measures aiming at improving its performance, service, and also other key areas, including minimising distribution losses and so on, according to the CESC officials.
Announcing the CESC’s national ranking among ESCOMs at a press conference here on Thursday, CESC Chairman and MLA Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda and CESC Managing Director Sheela attributed the improvement of CESC’s rating in the national assessment due to efficiency, overall performance, and measures taken to cut down distribution losses which is less than 10%.
The evaluation of the ESCOMs is done every year and ratings are announced, considering various factors by the Ministry, said the officials.
Ms. Sheela said CESC is the only ESCOM in the State that has got an ‘A’ grade in the rankings, and the CESC stands at the 16th place in the rankings among the DISCOMs assessed. The rating was 2023-24.
CESC Director (Technical) Munigopalraju said the ratings help the corporation get loans for its projects at lower interest rates.
