The police have registered a case against eight CPI(M) workers for allegedly attacking a BJP worker and injuring two others at Poiloor, near Panoor, Kannur, Kerala, on Tuesday
The Kolavallur police have registered a case against Ajnas, Ajith and six others who can be identified, under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 126(2), 118(1), 109(1), 351 and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the FIR, the attack was politically motivated, with the accused allegedly attempting to kill BJP worker Shaju. The group, armed with weapons, including a sword and iron rods, targeted Shaju during a temple festival.
Shaju, who sustained serious head injuries, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thalassery.
The BJP has claimed that RSS workers were attacked in the area few days ago.
The incident has reignited political tensions in Panoor after a period of relative calm.
