A bomb scare following an email threat that eventually turned out to be a hoax disrupted departmental functioning at the Collectorate for a better part of the day on Friday.
According to sources, Collector R.S. Adheesh reportedly received an email threat of gelatin sticks at the Collectorate. Following this, Superintendent of Police S.S. Maheshwaran was alerted. A bomb squad along with two sniffer dogs arrived on the scene to detect any suspicious substances on the premises. The building was evacuated and the bomb squad combed the area including the Collector’s chambers and the rooms of the five-storied building that was inaugurated recently.
Dharmapuri town police are investigating the origin of the threat.
