BJP leader and Jangpura MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah has written to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta seeking directions for shopkeepers to display the names and Aadhaar details of the “real” owners of their shops to help people make “informed choices” while purchasing “sacred items” during Navratri, sources said on Monday.
“I request your esteemed office to issue guidance for shopkeepers across Delhi to display name plates in front of establishments,” Mr. Marwah said in his letter dated March 30.
‘To promote harmony’
He also claimed that the demand was not against any specific group and added he had also sought instructions for displaying names in view of Id celebrations as well. This step will promote “transparency and communal harmony”, the legislator said, adding that the CM’s intervention would help ensure smooth celebrations and prevent misunderstandings.
