By publishing the odd-semester results of Nov/Dec 2024 examinations of UG/PG programmes offered by affiliated colleges a week back, Bharathiar University has finally calibrated its academic calendar to pre-Covid schedule.
The exams for the UG/PG programmes conducted during November 2024 were also attuned to the pre-Covid pattern.
Likewise, the Even-Semester exam will also be conducted as per the usual schedule such that the valuation could be conducted during the summer vacation for timely publication of results, Controller of Examinations Ponpandian said.
The Even-Semester exams of 2023-24 session could be conducted only during July-August. It was because the odd-semester exam of the 2023-24 session for the PG programmes could commence only during the last week of January.
Due to these factors, the results of the odd semester could be published only during mid-February last year.
Yet, Bharathiar University managed to conduct its 39th convocation during October last year.
Since the Governor and Chancellor R.N. Ravi has mandated State universities to conduct convocations between August and October, Bharathiar university will be in a position to conduct its 2025 convocation even earlier, sources said.
The universities have been told by the Governor that timely conferment of degrees was of vital importance for candidates planning to pursue higher studies in foreign universities.
Bharathiar University is now in a strong position to comply with 15 to 18 weeks of academic work equivalent to 90 actual teaching days per semester mandated by the University Grants Commission, well within the schedule specified in the usual academic calendar, sources added.
