Bengaluru wakes up to wet Sunday

Bengaluru woke up to a wet Sunday (January 19, 2025) as several parts of the city received light showers.

As per India Meteorological Centre (IMD) Bengaluru’s observation data recorded at 8.30 am on Sunday (January 19, 2025) Bengaluru city station recorded 3.3 mm rainfall, the HAL Airport and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) stations recorded 4.2 mm rainfall and 2.2 mm rainfall respectively.

C.S. Patil, scientist and director, IMD Bengaluru said that most districts of south interior Karnataka have received rainfall.

“Most districts of south interior Karnataka which include Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru urban and rural, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan and also Dakshina Kannada received rainfall.”

Mr. Patil said the rainfall was caused due to the Easterly Waves.

The IMD forecast for Bengaluru city for the next 24 hours is generally cloudy sky. “Light rain is very likely. Fog and mist likely during early morning hours in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 27°C and 17°C respectively.”
