Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh on Monday announced that tent cities would be set up in the 21 pilgrim spots across the State to offer robust hospitality facilities for the tourists.
Speaking to newsmen at a press conference here, Mr. Durgesh has added that hospitality remains a challenge in all the pilgrim spots and their local tourism potential is yet to be fully tapped due to poor hospitality facilities.
“Chief Minister N. Chabababu Naidu has also advocated on improving hospitality facilities in the places where pilgrim spots are located. The Department of Tourism decided to go for setting up of the tent cities in the 21 pilgrim spots”, said Mr. Durgesh.
“We are also engaged in leasing out houses with local architecture to improve the hospitality facilities in every region including Konaseema in the Godavari region. We have a target to make available 50,000 additional rooms for the tourists by the end of 2028”, said Mr. Durgesh.
On tourism facilities at the Polavaram irrigation project, Mr. Durgesh has said that Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) group has expressed interest in building two hotels at the irrigation project site to woo tourists once the project is commenced.
