Telangana government on Thursday constituted an advisory committee headed by retired IFS officer Dr. B.M Vinod Kumar as its chairman and Migrants’ Rights Activist Mandha Bheem Reddy as vice-chairman to study the issues related to the welfare of Gulf migrant workers from Telangana.
The advisory committee will prepare a comprehensive NRI Policy for the welfare of migrant workers hailing from Telangana. Telangana government is providing Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of deceased Gulf migrant workers.
Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas, Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam and Nizamabad Rural MLA Dr. R Bhupati Reddy, Telangana Mineral Development Corporation Limited (TGMDC) Chairman E Anil Kumar and former MLC T Jeevan Reddy will be the members of the committee.
The committee also comprises seven other members, including representatives of various organisations working for the welfare of Gulf migrant workers, social workers and migrants’ rights activists. Joint Secretary to Government (Protocol), GAD, will be the member secretary of the committee.
