The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday continued its protest against the BJP for failing to provide free LPG cylinders to Delhi’s women on Holi — a promise that was made by the ruling party in the run-up to the Assembly election.
Sources have said that the Delhi government is still working on the scheme and the criteria for the beneficiaries are yet to be decided.
Staging a demonstration at the ITO junction, AAP MLA from Kondli Kuldeep Kumar slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president J.P. Nadda for not staying true to their words. “Today is Chhoti Holi. Holi has arrived, but the cylinders haven’t. The women of Delhi were waiting for the free cylinders promised to them, but once again, PM Modi’s guarantee has turned out to be just another jumla (empty rhetoric),” he said.
Mr. Kumar claimed that the BJP’s promise of giving ₹2,500 to Delhi’s women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana was also a lie. He added that AAP would continue to hold the BJP accountable until they deliver on their promises.
