An eight-year-old boy was killed while a 45-year-old man sustained minor injuries after a portion of a house collapsed in north-west Delhi’s Nangloi, the police said on Monday.
The incident took place during construction on the roof of the one-storey house.
The roof caved in and collapsed onto the verandah below, an officer said.
The deceased has been identified as Vansh, a daily wage labourer’s son. He was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital after the incident but doctor declared him dead on arrival. The occupants of the house, who hail from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, have not sustained injuries, the officer said.
The house was found in a dilapidated condition and legal action has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the collapse, he added.
