The Virugambakkam Police have recovered the body of a 43-year-old advocate, with severe wounds, from his office in Virugambakkam. Investigation is on to trace those involved in the murder.

The police identified the deceased as Venkatesan, a resident of Adambakkam. He was also the State deputy secretary of Mukkulathor Puli Padai, led by actor and former MLA Karunas.

On an alert from neighbours, who grew suspicious over the foul smell from the advocate’s office, the police went to the apartment on Ganapathy Raj Nagar Main Road. There they found his body, covered with injury marks, in a decomposed state. They then sent the body to hospital for post-mortem.

The police analysed the CCTV footage that showed four unidentified persons leaving his office two days ago.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Venkatesan had criminal cases against him, and was embroiled in a land dispute with a group.
