As many as 22 militia members of the CPI (Maoist) Yerrapally Revolutionary People’s Committee (RPC) from Chhattisgarh surrendered to the police in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday, police said.
The surrendered Maoist militia members hail from Yerrapalli in the strife-torn Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
They turned themselves in before Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police B. Rohith Raju at a meeting titled ‘Athmeeya Sammelanam’ held in Charla of Bhadrachalam Agency.
The Charla police organised the meeting with the family members of 36 Maoists, who had surrendered to the district police last year.
The SP handed over groceries to the family members of the surrendered Maoists on the occasion.
Additional SP (Operations) Pankaj Paritosh, Bhadrachalam ASP Vikranth Kumar Singh and others were present.
