Two minor siblings were killed and three persons suffered burn injuries in one of the two fire incidents that were reported on Sunday in Delhi, the police said on Monday. No casualties were reported in the second incident, which occurred at a private hospital in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar, according to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS).

A massive fire broke out at a house in west Delhi’s Manohar Park due to gas leak from an LPG cylinder, DFS officer said. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Savita, along with her daughter Minakshi, 11, managed to escape the fire while her other two children Sakshi, 14, and Aakash, 7, got trapped inside the house, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.

Upon knowing about the incident, neighbours came to their rescue but in vain. The children suffered 100% burns while three persons sustained minor injuries. All five were rushed to a hospital, where the doctors declared the two children dead on arrival, he said.

Hospital blaze

In a separate incident, a fire broke out at a private hospital in Laxmi Nagar area due to a short circuit, the DFS said. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot, an officer said. The blaze started in an air-conditioner and some patients were quickly evacuated. A two-and-a-half-year-old patient, Riyansh, was shifted to Kailash Hospital in Noida, he added.
