The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) again reminded the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of its poll promise on Thursday, stating that only “two days are left to disperse the first instalment of ₹2,500 to every woman” in the city under the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’.

In the run-up to the Delhi election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the women aid scheme “Modi ki guarantee” (Modi’s promise) and said that if the BJP is elected in Delhi, the scheme will be cleared in the first Cabinet meeting of the new government, and the first instalment be credited on International Women’s Day on March 8.

“With only two days left for March 8, AAP is determined not to let Modi’s guarantee become another empty promise. AAP will fight from the streets to the Assembly to ensure women receive the promised ₹2,500,” alleged former AAP MLA Rituraj Jha.

According to officials, the scheme will likely be launched on March 8.

AAP workers held demonstrations at traffic intersections in Rajghat, Moolchand, and other places against the BJP government.

Mr. Jha alleged that Mr. Modi had appealed to women to link their Aadhaar cards with their bank accounts to receive SMS notifications of funds credited. “Delhi’s women have linked their accounts and are waiting for the ₹2,500 to be deposited,” he claimed.
