A 17-year-old boy, a Class 11 student, was reportedly stabbed to death at Madhavapuram near Kanniyakumari around midnight on Sunday (April 27, 2025).
According to the police, K. Vishnu Bharath, from Madhavapuram, was allegedly stabbed by R. Chandru, 19, also from the same area, during a temple function. The attack reportedly followed a quarrel between the duo at the event. In a fit of rage, Chandru used a sharp object found nearby to stab Vishnu Prashanth in the scapular region, the police said.
On receiving information about the incident, Vishnu Prashanth’s relatives rushed him to a government hospital in Kanniyakumari. He was later shifted to a private hospital, where he was declared dead, within a couple of hours after the attack.
The Kanniyakumari police sent Vishnu Prashanth’s body for postmortem examination.
The police have registered a case and arrested Chandru on Monday. Further investigations are on.
