A 15-year-old boy died on Tuesday morning while climbing down the Vellingiri Hills, which fall under the Boluvampatti Forest Range in the Coimbatore Forest Division.
According to T. Suseendranath, ranger of the Boluvampatti Forest Range, the boy, identified as M. Vishva from Kambarpatti in Dindigul district, had climbed the hill along with his father Murugan and other family members on Monday night. After offering prayers at the summit, the group began their descent immediately.
The boy reportedly vomited twice while climbing down and began to feel unwell near the second hill on Tuesday morning. His father carried him down to the foothills with the help of other family members, where doctors examined him and declared him dead around 7 a.m., the ranger said.
Forest officials said the body was handed over to the police for further procedures and investigation.
