10 men arrested in three places across Chennai for drug peddling

The Chennai police arrested 10 individuals in three different locations across the city — Triplicane, Mambalam, and Choolaimedu — on charges of drug peddling.

Following a tip-off received by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU), a special ANIU team, along with a police team from the Triplicane police station, conducted a raid on Friday (September 26, 2025) morning at a lodge on Auliya Saheb Street, Triplicane.

During an inspection of the premises, the police found individuals in possession of methamphetamine and OG ganja. Seven persons were arrested for illegally possessing narcotics.

The police arrested Mohamed Abbas, 31, of Mannadi; Syed Naveed, 28, of Anna Salai; Sikander, 42, of Triplicane; and four others. The police seized 5 g of methamphetamine, 7 g of OG ganja, 1 kg of ganja, and two two-wheelers from them. Investigations revealed that Sikander was the owner of the lodge and the others were working for a private firm.

In a separate case, the Mambalam police apprehended a man behaving suspiciously on Mooparappan Street, T. Nagar. Upon questioning and searching him, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and LSD stamps. The accused, identified as Venkatesan, a resident of Abdul Aziz Street, T. Nagar, was arrested for illegally possessing narcotics. The police seized 2 g of methamphetamine and 8 LSD stamps from him.

Similarly, the Choolaimedu police arrested another alleged drug offender, identified as Siddharth, 19, of New Washermenpet.
