A 65-year-old woman, P. Vijayalakshmi, was suspected to have been murdered by a 45-year-old man at Urmila Nagar in Bhavanipuram area in NTR Commissionerate. Family disputes are suspected to be the reasons behind the killing, the police said.

The accused threw the head, hand, legs and torso in different locations. The Bhavanipuram police reportedly took two suspects into custody and are investigating the case. West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N.S.V.K. Durga Rao said the police recovered all parts of the woman from different places.

The police suspect that the accused sedated his mother’s sister two days ago before killing her and cuting the body into pieces and disposing the parts in a nearby drainage and other locations.

“We are probing into the motive behind the brutal murder. The case is being investigated from all angles,” Mr. Durga Rao told The Hindu on Sunday.
