Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader and Chidambaram Member of Parliament Thol. Thirumavalavan led a demonstration outside the Madras High Court campus in Chennai on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) condemning the attempted physical attack on Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai by a 71-year-old lawyer during the Supreme Court proceedings on Monday.
The protesters demanded registration of a criminal case against the lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who had also raised slogans about Sanatana in the court hall, under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967.

Madras High Court Advocates Association president G. Mohanakrishnan too participated in the protest.
