The Kakinada district police on Monday, arrested a three-member inter-State ganja gang and recovered 383 kilograms of ganja from them. The accused have been identified as Kadham Singh and Mapi Kanwar, both residents of Jalore district in Rajasthan, and Suvvan Kankar Devi of G. Madugula mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district.
Addressing reporters at a press conference in Peddapuram town, Kakinada Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav said that the gang attempted to flee in their car after ramming into the ground staff at the Jonnada toll plaza on the national highway in Visakhapatnam on September 23.
“We have seized 175 packets of ganja from the gang. The gang has been procuring gajna from Odisha and transporting it to Rajasthan by road”, said Mr. Bindu Madhav. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
