The Anti Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch unearthed an international drug racket and recovered 3 kg of hydro ganja worth ₹3.8 crore which landed at an international courier service in Chamarajapete on Monday.

Based on a tip-off, a team of officials rushed to the courier service centre along with the canine squad and found the package concealed in pet food.

The officials checked the receiver’s address, which was mentioned as Nagadevanahalli village in Chickaballapur, to avoid detection. However, the accused had mentioned a contact number. They scratched it later, which helped the sleuths zero in on Nazeer Mohammed, 37, from Malappuram in Kerala, and his associate Rasheed M.S., 46, from Thalassery in Kerala, who were monitoring the movement of the consignment through real-time trackers.

Probe revealed that the accused sourced the drugs from Thailand and Germany, paying the supplier through cryptocurrency. Further search through the canine squad revealed another drug consignment of four kg of hydro ganja, which landed at the courier office worth ₹4 crore.

The CCB officials registered both cases in the jurisdictional K.G. Nagar police station under the NDPS Act.

The CCB officials have intensified the probe and are coordinating with the officials of other agencies to contain international drug smuggling racket using courier services.

In another case, the Kothanur police raided an apartment in NG Gollahalli and arrested two foreign women nationals allegedly peddling drugs. The police seized 4.8 g of MDMA crystls worth ₹12.03 crore from them.

City police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that a total of 15.2 kg of drugs have been seized in five cases, including one in Parappana Agarahara, two in K.G. Nagar, and one in Kothanur, estimated to be around ₹23.8 crore.

Elaborating on the statistics, Mr. Singh said since January this year, the city police have cracked 711 cases and seized 1468 kg of narcotics worth ₹81.2 crore, and arrested 1,013 peddlers and 35 foreign nationals involved in the racket.
