Amid growing protests within the Nair community, Nair Service Society (NSS) General Secretary G. Sukumaran Nair on Saturday (September 27, 2025) reaffirmed the organisation’s support for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government on the Sabarimala issue.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a public meeting of the community organisation at Perunna, Mr. Nair said he had already made his position clear and had nothing further to add. When asked about the protests against him, he remarked that those who wished to protest had already done so and he was prepared to face them directly.
The meeting at the Pratinidhi Sabha Hall at the NSS headquarters is being held to approve the income and expenditure accounts of the Nair Service Society (NSS). The General Secretary’s pro-government stance on the Sabarimala issue is expected to be a key topic of discussion during the meeting. Mr. Nair is also likely to address the growing protests within the community directed against him.
Meanwhile, another banner demanding Mr. Nair’s resignation has appeared near a Karayogam office of the NSS at Chennad Karayogam, near Poonjar. The banner accuses the General Secretary of betraying Lord Ayyappa devotees and launches a sharp criticism, alleging that he is `serving at the feet of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.’
