Aavishkaar Group, a fund management platform, and Jamwant Ventures, a venture capital firm, have come together to launch a new fund with a total corpus of ₹500 crore. This strategic partnership, OneAavishkaar, launched by the Aavishkaar Group, will harness Aavishkaar Capital’s institutional expertise and robust fund governance framework and Jamwant Ventures’ strong domain knowledge and operational insights.
Navneet Kaushik, founder of Jamwant Ventures, told The Hindu that the idea is to invest in 20-25 companies. “I am looking at companies which are slightly mature, but yes, we will do seed as well,” he said. Mr. Kaushik indicated the teams have started evaluating a few startups in this space. They are in the process of launching the fund and expect to file with SEBI by the end of this month. Once the necessary approvals are in place and the fund is launched, deployments are expected to begin early next year.
Tarun Mehta, partner, Funds & Strategy, Aavishkaar Capital, said: “We will have a representation of Aavishkaar on the investment committee of the new fund. We will assist Jamwant when it comes to diligence or exit planning, etc. Navneet and his team are very prolific in finding the deal and executing it.”
Jamwant Ventures is a sector-specialist investment firm focused on defence and deep tech innovation in India.
Their first fund, ‘Jamwant Ventures Fund 1’, has successfully deployed capital across high-potential startups aligned with national security and indigenisation goals.
According to both firms, ‘Jamwant Ventures Fund 2’ will be a gamechanger for defence and deep tech startups. This will offer startups early capital backing with robust ecosystem of partners, pilots, and policy linkages. Startups can expect tailored support to scale commercially viable solutions with deep sectoral insights leading to high growth.
