Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the additional library at Government Siddha Medical College in Palayamkottai through videoconferencing on Tuesday.

Participating in the event, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu said libraries, the source of knowledge, were being established by the Tamil Nadu Government in the places like bus stands, hospitals, railway stations where the public have to wait for longer duration. The additional library inaugurated by the Chief Minister at Government Siddha Medical College would be open for the public, especially for the patients between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Hence, the patients waiting to meet the doctors could make use this time by reading the newspapers, magazines and books of their choice.

In Tenkasi district, two libraries – one at Shencottai Government Hospital and the other at Tenkasi Government Hospital – were inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Tenkasi District Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore and MLA S. Palani Nadar were present.

In Kanniyakumari district, the library has been opened at Vadaseri bus stand and Kottar Government Ayurveda Medical College Hospital. District Collector R. Alagumeena, Nagercoil Corporation Mayor R. Magesh and Commissioner Nishant Krishna were present.

“The patients coming to the Ayurveda Medical College Hospital and the passengers should make use of these libraries,” Ms. Alagumeena said.

The Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital, Kovilpatti Government Hospital and Anna bus stand in Thoothukudi got libraries on Tuesday . Dean of Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital (TKMCH) Sivakumar, Resident Medical Officer Silas Jayamani and Mayor Jegan Periyasamy lighted the traditional lamp in the library at TKMCH. Mr. Jegan also visited the library at the bus terminus.
