Subramanyapura police have arrested a 25-year-old employee of an IT firm in Bengaluru for allegedly stabbing his female friend to death after she broke up with him, in a hotel room on June 6.

The accused Yashas is a BCA graduate and a resident of Kengeri. He was in a relationship with a married woman, who had two children, for the last six months, according to the police.

The accused was allegedly frustrated after the deceased, Harini, 33, stopped meeting him stating that her husband got to know about their relationship.

Yashas managed to convince Harini to meet him for the last time. They checked into a hotel room where Yashas allegedly stabbed Harini 17 times before leaving the hotel.

Police believe that it was a pre mediated murder as Yashas had carried a knife with him. He stabbed himself too, and got admitted in a private hospital, said the police.

Based on the medico-legal case, the police went to the hospital and arrested the accused.

The initial probe revealed that the duo was introduced through a common friend three years ago. They used to meet regularly over the last few months. The husband of the deceased got to know about the affair recently following which Harini broke up with Yashas.

Yashas tried to convince her to continue the affair, but in vain.

The accused will be produced in court and taken into custody.
