The Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday (January 15, 2025) asserted that the INDIA bloc is intact, adding that he is supporting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the Congress in Delhi because it is stronger and the common aim is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Strengthening the hands of regional parties wherever they are strong and in a position to fight the BJP is the basic principle behind the formation of the Opposition bloc. The INDIA bloc is united and our agenda is to defeat the BJP,” the SP president said while talking to presspersons in Haridwar.

Mr. Yadav added, “Maha Kumbh has been organised for thousands of years. Our sages and saints whom we never get to see, are visible during Maha Kumbh. Their arrival enhances the beauty of Maha Kumbh. Maa Ganga flows from Haridwar to the last end in West Bengal. Every place has its own importance. We will go to Sangam when Mother Ganga calls us,” the SP president said.

Mr. Yadav, a former U.P. Chief Minister, was in Haridwar to immerse the ashes of his uncle Rajpal Yadav in the Ganga at Har ki Pauri. He urged the U.P. government to focus on shortcomings which he claimed are visible in the Maha Kumbh.

“In today’s time, when there are so many new things happening and everything is going live, at such a time when there are shortcomings, people raise questions. We hope that the government will pay attention to all those shortcomings and improve them because Maha Kumbh is going to continue for many days,” Mr. Yadav added.
