Over 30 passengers of a private bus had a narrow escape as the bus conductor’s presence of mind averts a major accident in Palani in Dindigul district, on Friday.

Prabhu, 30, of Palani, the driver of the private bus, suddenly collapsed while driving. It was said that he suffered a heart attack. On seeing Prabhu collapsing in the driver’s seat, bus conductor Vimal Kumar rushed to the driver’s seat and stopped the bus by applying the brakes with his hands.

Vimal Kumar and the passengers tried to revive the driver. Unfortunately, the driver died. The Chatrapatti police have registered a case and are investigating. The video of the incident was captured on the CCTV camera inside the bus.
