The Puducherry government has decided to issue licences to qualified individuals for their engagement by various departments as land surveyors and draughtsmen for field work related to patta transfer and land demarcation in the Union Territory.

Director of Survey and Land Records C. Sendhil Kumar in a release said the government has decided to engage Licensed Land Surveyor and Licensed Land Draughtsman to ease the pressure on existing administrative machinery and bring transparency in the workflow during patta transfer. 

The licences will be given to Puducherry residents holding ITI trade certificate in surveying, draughtsman, diploma or degree holders in civil engineering and architecture from recognised universities and boards. 

Any retired government servant who has served in the rank of a surveyor or draughtsman with Puducherry government would be deemed qualified as Licensed Land Surveyor/Draughtsman for their engagement on monthly, weekly, and daily basis by the departments, the release said. 

Qualified persons will be imparted training in latest survey technology and traditional chain survey technology. Necessary field training will be given for a period of one month. The application form can be downloaded from the official website of Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, he said. 

Mr. Kumar said the government has fixed the fees payable to the Licensed Surveyors and Draughtsman. An amount of ₹25,000 has been fixed as the monthly payment, ₹5,000 as the weekly payment, and ₹1,000 as the daily payment to a person engaged as Licensed Surveyor and Draughtsman, the release said.
