Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers’ Association condemned the BJP’s former district president Harichandran and his acquaintances for allegedly threatening, abusing public servants while performing their duty.

TNROA in their statement said that Madurai Revenue Division Officer R. D. Shalini, Madurai North Tehsildar Masthan Kani, Kulamangalam Revenue Inspector Saravanan, Anaiyur Village Administrative Officer Kothai Nachiyar and other revenue officials, on Saturday, went on a field survey to Anaiyur village located in Madurai North to fulfil the requirements of the free patta scheme of the State government.

In this situation, while they carried out their survey, BJP functionaries – Harichandran, Gnanamani and Rupesh, obstructed the officials from performing their duty and abused them disrespectfully.

In addition to abuse, they also tried to snatch a mobile phone from an officer who tried to capture video of the incident and threatened them of consequences that they had to face if they continued with their work in the village.

Condemning the attack, TNROA demanded security for the government officials who were involved in various duties in the objective of delivering government schemes and programmes to the public.

Also, they appealed to the City Police Commissioner J. Loganathan to immediately arrest the people who threatened and abused the officials.

Koodal Pudur police have booked them under sections 296(b) (obscene acts and songs), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of their duty) under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
