TDP national general secretary and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has called upon the party workers to stop sulking over minor issues and contribute to strengthening the party by taking the achievements and welfare programmes initiated by the alliance government to the notice of the people.

He was addressing a meeting of the top-performing party workers at Atchutapuram in Yelamanchili constituency in Anakapalli district, around 50 km from here, on Monday.

Referring to some party workers shying away from party activities as the ticket for Yelamanchili in the last general elections was allotted to the Jana Sena Party (JSP), Mr. Lokesh, while describing the party workers as ‘family members’, said minor differences were common in any family but sulking over them was not the solution. The party workers should instead pull up the party leaders for not recognising their efforts.

“We should not forget the troubled times when our alliance partners came to our rescue. We should not forget the coalition dharma. I won Mangalagiri Assembly constituency. I meet the JSP in-charge there and discuss issues frequently. The same is the case with the BJP leaders. It’s our responsibility to uphold the ‘Mitra Dharma’,” Mr. Lokesh told the TDP workers.

Giving credit to the party workers for enrolling 1 crore people as the TDP members in a record 83 days, Mr. Lokesh said discipline was the forte of the TDP.

He said that a decision had been taken to continually infuse young blood into the party, and a proposal had been made to ensure that no party leader continued in the same post for more than three terms.

Training for TDP workers

He said that the party worker was supreme in the TDP, and they should take all the measures to alleviate local problems at the village, mandal and constituency levels. Training programmes would be held for the party workers from May.

The party workers brought to the notice of Mr. Lokesh that the YSRCP Sarpanch and 10% of YSRCP activists had taken the membership of the TDP. They sought his intervention in getting justice for the 200 displaced people of Atchutapuram SEZ project, who were not given land so far; setting up a fishing harbour at Pudimadaka and lifting of the false cases registered against the TDP workers.

TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao, Ministers V. Anitha and Kollu Ravindra, TDP North Andhra Coordinator D. Satya, Yelamanchili constituency in-charge Pragada Nageswara Rao were present.
