Thrissur witnessed a vibrant showcase of scientific ingenuity as young scientists presented groundbreaking solutions to everyday problems at the Young Scientists’ Meet, organised by the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad’s Science Awareness Committee. The event took place at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Hall, Thrissur, on Sunday, featuring 11 dynamic presentations, each lasting 10 minutes, covering diverse scientific topics.
The presentations tackled a wide range of life-centric issues, including Innovative techniques in cancer treatment; causes and solutions for male infertility; nano-scopes: going beyond the precision of microscopes; advancements in weather prediction technologies; emotion-recognising computers based on human facial expressions; predictive justice models; how to stay safe during thunderstorms.
The event brought together research graduates and scholars from various scientific institutions, offering a platform to discuss solutions with real-world impact. Prof. K.R. Janardhanan, former State president of the Parishad, honoured the young scientists.
“Sasthranweshana Vazhiyile Kouthukangal’ (Wonders on the path of scientific searches) authored by Prof. K.R. Janardhanan was released on the occasion. The book was launched by N. Ashokan, Principal of Thrissur Government Medical College. KP Radhakrishnan, Honorary Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, received the book.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Ashokan said, “Scientists are not a special species; they are ordinary people with extraordinary curiosity.” He highlighted the relevance of the book’s content to the presentations. Such programmes bridge scientific research with public understanding, especially in health-related fields. The event was presided over by T.K. Meera Bhai, State president of the Parishad.
