A 38-year-old Madurai police head constable died in a road accident near Paramakudi on Sunday.  

Ashiq Ahamed, a native of Theni district, was working in Avaniapuram police station in Madurai. For celebrating Ramzan festival, he had gone with his family to their relative’s house near Ariyaman Beach.  While returning to Madurai in his car, he had a head-on collision with another car Ashiq Ahamed, who was behind the wheel, died on the spot. Six passengers in both the cars sustained severe injuries.  They were admitted to Paramakudi Government Hospital for treatment.

 Paramakudi police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
