K. Ganesh is participating in the school’s annual day near Ambur town.
The Department of School Education has issued an order of transfer to headmaster of Panchayat Union Middle School in Chandrayanpalli village that comes under Madhanur panchayat union near Ambur town in Tirupattur for allowing a history sheeter to participate in the annual day function of the school on last Saturday (March 22).
The headmaster, K. Chandrasekar, was transferred to Government Middle School in Kattukolai village. It comes after a probe led by Tirupattur District Educational Officer (Elementary), R. Malaivasan, which found that the headmaster was guilty of allowing a history sheeter to attend the annual day function of the school.
Initial inquiry revealed that the school organised its annual day function in the playground within the campus on March 22. The school authorities led by headmaster K. Chandrasekar invited G. Sunita, president, Chandrayanpalli village panchayat, as a special invitee, for the function.
Despite not being formally invited by the school, K. Ganesh, 42, a history-sheeter and husband of panchayat president Sunita, attended the event. He also sang a few movie songs and distributed prizes to students during the event. The video of the event went viral on social media platforms. It sparked a public outcry on allowing a history sheeter to participate in a school event.
Police said that Ganesh has several criminal cases including robbery and theft in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. He came out on conditional bail a few months ago. Following a public outcry over the incident, the School Education Department has conducted an inquiry and ordered transfer of the headmaster.
