A 32-year-old man died early Wednesday morning, after he was assaulted by his roommate in a brawl near Coimbatore on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Arumugam of Dindigul district, who was working as a driver of a mini goods carrier for a hardware store at Eachanari.

The police said that Arumugam had a brawl with his roommate Shiyas, 34, of Ernakulam in Kerala at their accommodation on Tuesday night, after Shiyas allegedly played songs using a portable speaker loudly. Shiyas beat him up with hands and a liquor bottle.

Arumugam was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he died without responding to the treatment, the police said. The Sundarapuram police were on the lookout for Shiyas, who escaped after the assault.
