A man involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the lives of three of a family on Sunday was arrested by Medchal police on Friday.

The accused Sahabu, 32, a native of Haryana, was driving a container vehicle. The police said he rammed his speeding vehicle into a two-wheeler near Medchal checkpost and fled the spot.

The deceased were identified as Bullabbai, 37, Lavanya, 30, and their 10-year-old daughter Harshitha. The couple’s four-year-old son Siddeshwar sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Medchal. The family was travelling from Uppal to Yellampet village to meet a relative between 3.30 and 4 p.m. when the accident took place.
