Osmania General Hospital (OGH) successfully conducted an Antimicrobial Stewardship Workshop on Wednesday, bringing together 104 doctors, microbiologists and healthcare professionals from various hospitals to discuss strategies for combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
The participants engaged in expert-led discussions on a range of topics, including global AMR concerns, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, antifungal resistance and the transition of conventional laboratories into antimicrobial stewardship programs (AMSPs). The workshop also featured hands-on training sessions.
Experts provided insights on implementing international guidelines such as those from the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). Discussions also covered AMR surveillance and WHO NET protocols.
