Members of the Federation of All Roadside Vendors Associations of Tiruchi has sought a fresh survey of roadside vendors in the city.

In a petition submitted to the district administration on Monday, the federation alleged that the list of street vendors of the Corporation was inaccurate and included the names of people who were not street vendors.

A. Ansardeen, district secretary, Tiruchi Federation of All Roadside Vendors’ Association, said the list contained the names of some wholesale traders of Gandhi Market, tailors, autorickshaw drivers, and members of self-help groups.

“This is a disservice to the roadside vendors in Tiruchi. Many of them are from impoverished sections of society, but their names are not added to the list. We request the Tiruchi Corporation to conduct a proper survey of roadside vendors,” he said.
