The free one-month multimedia course offered by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) received an overwhelming response with 500 persons attending the induction sessions held at the City Knowledge and Study Centre on Thursday (March 20, 2025).

G. Maheswari, a 54-year-old woman from Palladam in Tiruppur district, came to the centre as she wanted to learn the basics of video editing and graphics for the promotion of her business.

“I run a design-cum-stitching centre. I feel that the course would equip me to expand the business by acquiring new media skills,” she said.

Another aspirant aged 30, who studied upto Class X, wanted to attend the skill training course for digital promotion to promote her salon. Course coordinators said that a 62-year-old woman was the oldest applicant for the one-month certified course.

S. Siva Ragavi, one of the coordinators of the course, said that more than 800 registrations for the course have been made so far, and they received over 1,500 enquiries.

“Since more applicants have come up, the classes would be organised in batches of 60 people. We are overwhelmed by the response,” she said.

She said that persons aged 18 and above applied for the course. The induction sessions are conducted to throw light on the course and for instructors to know the aspirations of the applicants. Classes are held from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. in different batches.

The course is aimed at equipping the participants to secure employment opportunities in multimedia, marketing, content creation, and other related areas.
