Corporation officials cleared encroachments on platforms at the Central Bus Terminus on Wednesday, addressing issues that caused inconvenience and obstructed movement for commuters.

A news report titled “Encroachments on platforms at Central Bus Terminus remain a concern for commuters,” published in The Hindu on March 19, 2025, highlighted the problem. Following this, officials visited the bus stand and instructed unauthorised stall vendors selling fruits and flowers to remove their stalls. Officials explained to the vendors that their stalls obstructed commuter movement and warned them not to violate regulations in the future. Later, workers removed the stall materials, which were taken away in a corporation vehicle.

The move was appreciated by commuters, who, however, urged authorities to conduct regular monitoring to prevent unauthorised stalls from returning to the platforms. Officials acknowledged that despite warnings, the stalls frequently reappear, requiring periodic evictions.
