On commercial landscaping
The Department of Floriculture and Landscape, Horticultural College and Research Institute, TNAU, Periyakulam, conducted a training programme on ‘Entrepreneurship skill development in commercial landscaping’ on March 14. K.R.Rajadurai, HoD, gave the welcome address and J.Rajangam, Dean, gave the presidential address. D.Dhanasekaran, Associate Professor,,AC and RI, Thiruvanamalai, speak on ‘Commercial Landscaping.’ G. Sathish, SMS (Horticulture), proposed the vote of thanks. As many as 175 students participated in the programme.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering of Syed Ammal Engineering College, Ramanathapuram, organised a two-day workshop on ‘Medical electronics equipment’ in association with KV MED Company, Bengaluru. Vaishnavi, Managing Director of KV MED, provided an in-depth knowledge on various medical equipment and their applications. The sessions covered modern diagnostic tools, imaging technologies, patient monitoring systems, and latest innovations in medical electronics.

In view of Women’s Day celebration at Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam, a lecture on ‘Power is everywhere’ was organised for girl students on March 8. Gurugnanambika, Assistant Professor from Avinasilingam Institute of Housing and Women’s Higher Education, Coimbatore, spoke on empowerment of women achievers, the safety of girl children and role of parents and teachers in the welfare and safety of girl child. More than 300 students and teachers participated.

A.Pari, Inspector General of Police (Retd.), delivered a motivational address. He acknowledged the challenges that lay ahead, but reframed them as opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and experiential learning.

Equitas Gurukul Matric Higher Secondary School, Dindigul, conducted a science expo for classes LKG to IX. Totally 421 students participated and showcased their projects in science and other subjects. More than 500 parents witnessed the exhibition of working and non-working models.
Workshop held
The PG and Research Department of Physics, The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College for Women, Sivakasi, organised a workshop on ‘Empowering women in STEM: hands-on training in MATLAB’ on March 12. The resource person was A. Basherrudin Mahamud Ahmed of School of Physics, Madurai Kamaraj University. He gave hands-on-training in processing data, visualisation and developing algorithms for different mathematical functions using MATLAB software in a very simple manner. A total of 19 students participated.
