The Teynampet Police on Saturday arrested three persons, including a history-sheeter, who allegedly hacked a cab driver to death owing to enmity.

The victim has been identified as N. Raja, 42. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Friday when Raja was talking to his friends near Thiruvallur Salai-Bharathiyar Street junction. The trio – A. Mani 25, the history sheeter; C. Rahul, 31, and P Vignesh, 31 – came on a bike, and attacked him. When Raja tried to flee, they chased him and hacked him with knives, and fled the spot.

A policeman who happened to be near the scene of crime attempted to nab the three persons. However, they threatened him with a knife, and fled.

Later, they were nabbed by a police team near Taramani.
