Activities in connection with the Vijnana Keralam people’s campaign are under way in Thiruvananthapuram district through the Kudumbashree Mission.

The participatory initiative to equip the youth with skills needed to secure gainful employment is seen as crucial in the State’s transition to a knowledge economy.

As the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission’s projects move into campaign mode, the Kudumbashree’s community ambassadors have a significant role to play. The community ambassadors are reaching out to the 1.5 lakh jobseekers who have registered on the Digital Workforce Management System (DWMS) as part of the campaign.

The Kudumbashree is also engaged in making them aware of the employment opportunities available on the platform, besides details of various job fairs organised to bring employers and job aspirants together. The community ambassadors are also identifying those searching for a job urgently and communicating with them constantly. Separate lists of immediate jobseekers will be prepared and field-level awareness activities undertaken as part of Vijnana Keralam.

The plan is to include those engaging in voluntary work for the campaign to extend its reach.

Common platform

A common platform will come into force for the Vijnana Keralam activities at the district-level, job stations at the block level, and facilitation centres at the panchayat level.

The community ambassadors will function in the facilitation centres, while Kudumbashree block coordinators, Kerala Institute of Local Administration’s district-level representatives called thematic experts, and resource persons interested in voluntary work will operate at the job stations.

Job fair on the cards

There are plans to organise a mega job fair in Thiruvananthapuram by June. Virtual job fairs will also be held every week. One such virtual fair will be held at the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET) on March 22. More virtual fairs will follow. The community ambassadors will inform the public and get those who have registered on the DWMS platform to take part in the job fairs.

Various training programmes such as that for DDUGKY block coordinators, literacy preraks, resource persons, Kudumbashree community development society chairpersons, and that for the community ambassadors are also organised as part of the campaign.
