In a display of solidarity and commitment to women’s empowerment, Preethi Hospitals, Madurai, organised a walkathon to commemorate the International Women’s Day on Saturday.

The event, which saw enthusiastic participation from the students of Preethi College of Nursing, hospital staff, and the general public, was presided over by Mayor Indrani Pon Vasanth.

The walkathon aimed to raising awareness of women’s health, rights, and empowerment, reinforcing the global theme of the International Women’s Day 2025. Managing Director Hema Sivakumar emphasised the hospital’s commitment to promoting women’s well-being and creating a healthier society.

Participants carried banners and placards advocating gender equality, women’s safety, and healthcare awareness and walked through key areas of the city.

Presenting certificates to the participants, the Mayor highlighted the crucial role played by healthcare institutions in advocating women’s health and empowerment, encouraging continued efforts to support women’s rights.
