Close on the heels of the Ranya Rao episode, the customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) arrested a visually-challenged man smuggling gold valuables worth ₹3.4 crore on Tuesday.
Based on specific input, a team of officials intercepted the accused as soon as he landed at the airport from Dubai and recovered ₹3.44 crore gold valuables which he had concealed in clothes.
According to the officials, the passenger was caught on March 4. During the check, the customs officials recovered 3.995 kg of gold from the accused.
“The gold worth ₹3,44,38,796 was concealed under the suspect’s shirt,” the officials said.
The arrest by the customs at KIA came after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers nabbed Kannada actor Ranya Rao recently for smuggling gold.
